Chester Hardy Aldrich is Born

Today in Masonic history Chester Hardy Aldrich is born in 1862.

Chester Hardy Aldrich was an American politician.

Aldrich was born on November 10th, 1863. Aldrich attended and graduated from Ohio State University before moving to Ulysses, Nebraska. In Nebraska Aldrich worked as a high school principal and rancher while he attended law school. After passing the bar he moved to David City, Nebraska.

Aldrich ran for and became the Mayor of David City which began his political career. In 1906 Aldrich was elected to the Nebraska Senate.

In 1911 Aldrich was elected the 16th Governor of Nebraska. In a commencement address at his alma mater, Ohio State University, he spoke about his views on progressivism. A popular political movement of the time, progressivism focused on the middle class and the changes the technology were going to have.

In 1918 Aldrich was elected to the Nebraska Supreme Court.

Aldrich passed away on March 10th, 1924.

Aldrich was an active Freemason and a member of York Rite.
