Peter Sellers is born

Today in Masonic history Peter Sellers is born in 1925.

Peter Sellers was a Britsh film actor, comedian and singer.

Sellers began his career when he was only two weeks. He traveled with his parents in their variety act. His first work was as a drummer for the show.

Sellers also developed his skills in mimicry which would serve him well in film career. Before breaking into film, he was part of BBC Radio where most notably he stared in "The Goon Show" a comedy radio show. It was during his time on "The Goon Show" that Sellers started getting movie roles.

Many of Sellers movie were comedies, although he did get to show his artistic range with several different characters, often in the same movie. Most people remember Sellers as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther series and Dr. Strangelove.

Sellers was a member of Chelsea Lodge No 3098. A lodge dedicated to members of the performing arts.
