Cecil B. Demille

Born August 12, 1881 - Died January 21, 1959

Demille was one of the great film directors of all time. His career started on stage as an actor and then, as a director, spanned through silent films and into sound and color. His first bilical epic was The Ten Commnadments in 1923. This version of The Ten Commandments would hold Paramounts revenue record for 25 years. He would later create a new version of The Ten Commandments which is seventh on the list of top grossing films (adjusted for inflation).

DeMille was a Freemason and a member of Prince of Orange Lodge #16 in New York City.
