Teddy Roosevelt gives "Square Deal" speech

 

Roosevelt was a naturalist, politician, explorer, author and historian. He served as the 26th President of the United States from 1901 to 1909.

In 1910 Roosevelt gave a speech in Osawatomie, Kansas. In his speech he covered many topics. He outlined his views on conservation of the lands of the United States, believing that we should use the our natural resources, we should not be wasteful with them. He also introduced the term "Square Deal". In his broad outline he stressed equality for all citizens and emphasized fair government regulations of corporate "special interests".

Teddy Roosevelt was a member of Matinecock Lodge No. 806 in Oyster Bay, New York.
